How to cook Niman Ranch Fearless Franks in the air fryer
- Preheat air fryer to 400F
- Cook prepared franks for 6 mins, turning once
- Add frank to bun, return to fryer and cook for 90 seconds more
One little trick we like with larger hot dogs and frankfurter/polish style sausage is to score them with little diagonal slashes before adding to the air fryer. This means the hot fat inside has somewhere to escape when it starts to reach boiling point; without this you’ll end up with a sausage that’s all torn apart under the escaping steam.
Another plus point to this technique is you also maximize the surface area of the frank, which means plenty more crisp and char!
Lastly, we love to return the sausage on the bun for 1-2 minutes at the end. This lets the bun soak up a little of the dog’s fat and also helps it to crisp a little. The exact time depends on your bun. One minute for smaller simpler fare upto two minutes for big hoagie rolls.
