  1. Preheat air fryer to 400F
  2. Cook for 8 minutes at 400F
  3. Turn sausages half way through cooking time

We used the COSORI to air fry this (affiliate link, we get a fee), always check your food with a good kitchen thermometer.

Using the above directions I managed to cook these Johnsonville Brats comfortably past the 160F degree mark (the recommended temp on the package). The interior was still exceptionally juicy and the brats had a great crisp and char.

I will caution that these sausages still retained a slight pink tinge down the very center of the brat, despite being well past temp. As always, use care and caution when cooking raw meat products and invest in a good thermometer (see below).

  1. The thermometer being recommended is not accurate. I heated oil to 350 degrees F . That temperature was recorded by a deep fry old fashion thermometer. I then insert the tip of the instant read and got a temperature of 370 degrees F. Instantly explained why I was having problems with undercooked meat. Perhaps this why the center of your brats was still pink.

    1. Hmmm, Ill have to look into this John, thanks for letting me know your experience. I’ve found the thermometer to be relatively accurate personally, but in fairness I don’t have a way to double test its results. I’ll have to find a way to do this!

  2. I wonder if you had cooked it at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes would they have cooked thoroughly through…..

      1. It worked for me at that time & temperature….they were cooked through & through and did not break the casing….

  3. John is assuming the temperature reading on his bulb thermometer is accurate. The only accurate way to test any temperature gauge is with boiling water. Unless you live in the mountains, 212 degrees.
