Don’t believe the naysayers – cooking a Beyond Burger in an air fryer *IS* possible. What’s more…it’s mighty tasty too. Here’s how to make the burger in the fryer:
- Preheat air fryer to 400F
- When ready set temperature to 400F
- Spray both sides of patty with fat free cooking spray
- Cook for eight minutes total
- Flip with spatula two three times during cooking to ensure even cooking. I like to flip at minute three and six.
This recipe is based of using the COSORI Air Fryer (5.8QT model, affiliate link).
We recently updated this recipe as Beyond Meat recently updated their formula (see below). The results from the above guidelines should yield a crisper outer edge, not unlike a real patty cooked on a hot plate.
Using the Cosori fryer I find it takes about eight minutes to hit 165F in the center of the patty, your mileage may vary a little. Remember, use a decent thermometer if in doubt (affiliate link). Note, the edges of the burger will cook to temp much faster than the center. Again, I kinda like that crisper edge, I think it mimics the real deal even more.
It’s important to ensure the burger doesn’t stick to your fryer – that’s why I start by spraying both sides of the burger with fat free Pam cooking spray.
From there I like to flip the burger two or three times during cooking, to ensure even cooking. Unlike other recipes I don’t recommend shaking the basket; instead use a spatula to carefully, quickly and safely flip the patty. Shaking the basket risks the burger crumbling. Here’s the results out of the Cosori air fryer:
Beyond burger packaging (2020)
