This recipe is based of using the COSORI Air Fryer (affiliate link, we get a fee if you buy!).

You'll often find these bags off miniature peppers at your local grocery store. They're in effect much sweeter and less vegetal versions of bell peppers - with very little to no heat. They cook up great in the air fryer.

Prep Time 7 minutes
Cook Time 12 minutes
Additional Time 5 minutes
Total Time 24 minutes

Ingredients

  • One bag of sweet mini peppers

Instructions

  1. Preheat air fryer to 400F
  2. Wash and pat dry peppers
  3. Add peppers to air fryer
  4. Cook for 12 minutes for minimal char
  5. Turn peppers half way through cooking
  6. Cook for an additional 4- minutes further for even more char if preferred

Notes

The hot circulating air of the fryer works wonders with sweet mini peppers. The high heat chars and crisps the peppers and really underscores the sweetness. No oil or salt needed, simply add the cleaned peppers direct to the air fryer and sit back.

What do you do with sweet mini peppers in the air fryer?

Once you’ve developed a lovely smoky and sweet char on these peppers I love to slice them up as follows:

From there they work great in a number of dishes, but my favorite are Mexican dishes like:

  • Tacos
  • Enchiladas
  • Burritos
  • Tortas
  • Chimichanga

The peppers work fabulously in all of those and and more – they add a different dimension of flavor that really elevates the overall dish.

Please ensure your food is always thoroughly cooked. We recommend investing in a reliable kitchen thermometer. Check out the affordable selection on Amazon - there's something at every price point.

  1. I just got myself an Instant Vortex plus, and it roasted these mini peppers to a nice char in only about 8 minutes. I’m learning that all air fryers are different, and I need to check things throughout the process. In the end, I’m very pleased with this recipe, and my roasted peppers!

    1. Fabulous, that sounds great Joyce! And absolutely, every machine is a little different with its own quirks. Hopefully the recipes here are a good jumping off point for most people, I dont think the recipes are ever +/- 5 mins out, once you tweak for your own machine its easier too!

    2. Hi Joyce do u cook pork steaks in your vortex air fryer? if u do what temperature & what time do u cook them on? Thank u for sharing about the peppers

  2. I have a 4qt vortex 4in1 air fryer need suggestions on cooking food in it with time & temperature to cook food in it thank u Lisa T.

  3. Ez PZ recipe! Mini sweet Peppers are the very BEST! They cook up in an air fryer in no time! I, too, have an Instant Vortex air fryer but but the one I own is small because I’m a senior citizen living alone in a 1-bedroom apartment. (1.5 quarts). I was able to color coordinate as well! I purchased mine on Amazon for a great price point in the color Aqua (very light turquoise…). So far, I’ve cooked (air fried) several foods in my little Instant air fryer. Everything I made came out quite tasty and crisp! Love air fried foods! You will, too!
