Halloumi is a great cheese choice for cooking at high temperatures. Which is why you will typically you will see recipes for grilled Halloumi or battered and deep fried. Here I’ve used the air fryer to loosely replicate grilled halloumi, without much of the fuss or heat from running the grill or broiler.
Start by cutting the cheese into 1/4 thick strips. From there cook in a preheated air fryer as described above. You’ll want to be extra careful when you flip the cheese, it should have just enough texture an firmness to not crumble.
