How to cook thin cut pork chops in an air fryer

Kroger thin cut pork chops

Naturally a lot here depends with exactly *how* thin your pork is. These from Kroger were probably close to a quarter inch – super thin. As such they took just four minutes. If you have thicker pieces of pork, cook longer and always use a thermometer. I like 360F as the temp to keep the cooking time quick, but not drying out the pork too much For regular pork chops check out this guide.

Thin cut pork chops are a healthy protein choice that work well in a number of dishes; they also cook up exceedingly quickly and simply when using an air fryer. There's no splatter or mess either too - when comapred with pan frying.

    1. Pork chops came out perfect…… And I don’t know how to cook. Thank God for the air fryer and Google😂😂😂

          1. Mine has a pre-heat setting. I set the temp, then the total time for cooking, then “start”. It beeps when the pre-heat ends, then I add the food. I spray before turning it on, and it works, though no recipe ever mentioned whether to spray before or after pre-heating.

          2. I usually apply any spray direct to the food rather than the fryer, but only rarely. Most stuff has plenty fat content by itself, pork included 🙂

      1. Hi it also took me about 10 minutes to cook them. I had the exact same package of chops from kroger and i ore heated my air fryer for about 4 minutes but i do like my chops well done so maybe thats why it took longer lol thanks anyway for the help tho

        1. Okay Karen, leave Stuart alone. He’s not harming anyone with his wonderful recipe. All air fryers cook at different temps/times. Take the recipes with a grain of salt & Welcome to the internet 😉

          1. Thanks Ria, it’s always worth underscoring how each fryer varies from the next – hopefully these recipes are good jumping off points for most people to then dial in for their exact fryer.

          2. Hey! My name IS Karen… and I feel like folks are taking my name in vain! And, darn it, I’m a good cook and love to treat my family and friends with love from my kitchen. All this name disparaging hurts my feelings! Think about it, RIA!!
And now, I’m going to air fry breaded thin pork chops, my Polish Grandmother’s recipe:

            1) Trim the chops of fat.
            2) Sprinkle (not too generously because they could be too salty) with Lawry’s seasoning salt and let set for a few minutes.
3). Dredge the chops I flour…(I’ve tried duplicating the seasoning in the flour by adding paprika, celery seasoning and a little garlic powder to intensify the flavor w/o the added salt.
4). Dip the floured chops in an half & half egg/milk wash – how many eggs and milk depends on how many chops you’re frying or air frying.
5). Last, dredge and press panko into the chops and place on a cake rack and let set for a few minutes.
6). Spray both sides w/ canola oil.
6). My grandmother, Genievefka, fried then in oil, but I’m trying to air fry them for the first time.
7). Hope that air frying them will produce something as scrumptious as Grandmother’s.
            🤞🤞🤞

            Yours truly,
            KAREN

            I’ll let y’all know❣️

  1. This took way longer than 4 minutes. I had to keep putting them back in. I wish ppl would do their research first and try it before they put these recipes on the internet.

    1. Sorry to hear they didn’t work out right Karen. There are absolutely a lot of variables here – your own air fryer, how much you put in etc. The thickness of the pork is the critical item though. For regular pork chops I can cook as long as 10 minutes at a little higher temp of 380F.

I do test the recipes over and over before I post them, indeed I mainly the site as my own online cookbook to refer to. I don’t post until I get the result I like. I’ve since cooked these chops a few times following the same steps.

Do let us know the thickness of your pork, your air fryer and your final cook time, so others might be able to follow your steps.

    2. Are you sure you had THIN pork chops? You don’t need more than 8-10 min total or they dry up into dust.

  2. Absolutely perfect. Pay no attention to the Karen that clearly didn’t pay much attention to the cut of the pork. I will never cook thin cut boneless chops any other way. Thank you!!

    1. I don’t see why not, though you might need to adjust times. I’d make sure you have a good kitchen thermometer, then test the temp as you go along.

      1. Stuart, this may be a really silly question but I am about to order some very thinly cut pork loin slices… not a pork chop… I don’t know what the thickness is because I’m ordering online atm… obviously they will take less time but you won’t be able to stick a thermometer into them I don’t think… how would you recommend air frying them?

        1. Hi Kat – how thin are we talking? I wouldn’t have thought there would be any difference in time between pork loin slices and pork chops. The density of meat is still roughly the same – thickness is the main issue with the air fryer.

  3. Took me up to 13 mins and my pork chops are very than. I am new to air frying. It could be my fryer I really don’t know. But then end result was great. Very tasty still very moist.

    1. That seems a really long time Joyce. How thick was the pork, was the fryer preheated? How many did you cook at once, why brand fryer?

    1. I’ve never bothered Larry. Any protein, pork included will leave some charred/fat/juice residue behind but I don’t mind quickly scrubbing that off after cooking. Thin cut pork cooks fast so the mess is relatively minimal. If you want to keep your fryer exceptionally pristine, parchment paper can of course help (though be careful as always!)

  4. Mine are thin cut (approx 1/4″) with a small bone and they were still pretty raw after 4 mins. This is using a Ninja oven air fryer.

    1. Every air fryer is different for sure, which is why I always recommend getting a great kitchen thermometer (see link above). Also be sure to pre-heat your air fryer to temperature first as well.

      1. Air fryers are like microwaves in the sense that some cook way better and or faster than others. This is a guide. Always use a thermometer . Thank you for taking your time to help guide us through our air frying journey 😁

    1. My number one recommendation for all air frying is get a good kitchen thermometer, see the links above. That way you can cook anything you like, a few minutes at a time and see how long your particularly air fryer takes to cook the item – they’re all a bit different. The thermometer helps take the guesswork out of it 🙂

  5. My boneless pork loin chops were just under 1/2”. I used my Ninja Foodi Dual basket following the recipe recommendations. They were PERFECT.

  6. What is the temp of the meat when cooked completely. It never says the internal temp of the chop to make sure it is done.

  7. I preheated my air fryer as usual, my pork chops are a quarter inch thick, fast fry thin pork loin chops they are called and they are raw at 4 minutes so not sure how this recipe worked for others.

    1. What brand and model of fryer do you have Lori? This recipe was cooked in the Cosori 5.8 QT air fryer.

  8. Omigoodness!! When I flipped my thin pork loin chops at 2 minutes, I thought no way will 4 minutes be enough. But they are perfect , 4 minutes not a second more not a second less.
They were buy one get one free, and I don’t mind fixing these every night for four nights just with different sides. Tonight is yellow rice a black beans. So yummy!!
